The Blessings of Gratitude

With every stair I climb, I am reminded of a time not so long ago when I was unable to walk due to complications from repeated surgeries. For every step I take, I am grateful…

With a tear in my eye as I walk the four-mile journey to my destination in the cold, wind, and rain, I am reminded of those who suffer from lack of adequate clothing and shelter. For the umbrella over my head and the sneakers on my feet, I am grateful…

With an overwhelming sense of awe, I watch intently as a gentle breeze slowly carries a speckle of fall-colored leaves in a cascading wave downward toward the earth. For the trees, wind, and vibrancy of the fall season, I am grateful…

With smiles in my heart, I carry with me always the gifts of love and lessons learned from family members and friends past and present. For their joy, love and laughter, I am grateful…

Today I share a few of the things inspiring gratitude in me. What inspires gratitude in you? Calling to mind what we are grateful for can reduce anxiety and invite comfort. It helps us to shift our brain chemistry toward focusing more on what we have rather than what we feel we lack. As we experience the shift in perspective gratitude brings, angst lessons and peace of mind increases. Take a few minutes in silence. Close your eyes and relax your body. Ask yourself, what inspires gratitude in you? Notice all you experience and feel.
